What is Massage?

Massage is the scientific, systematic manipulation of the soft tissues with the purpose of improving the health and vitality of many of all of the bodily systems. A few benefits gained from a typical massage session include: stress reduction, increased skin elasticity, greater muscle mobility and tone, decreased strain on the heart, increased blood and lymph circulation, relaxation and balance of the nervous system, and enhanced immune sytem function. Clients increase their sense of well-being and improve their overall health with massage therapy.

First Intention Massage Therapy is dedicated to sharing these benefits by providing expert massage care informed by the latest scientific techniques. Our first and most important intention as a provider of therapeutic massage is to facilitate wholistic wellness through this healing art.

What can I expect from a therapeutic massage session?

The massage environment is a warm, secure setting which places a priority on the client's comfort and modesty. Clients will achieve the maximum benefit from a therapeutic massage session if they refrain from eating a large meal and drinking alcohol prior to the massage. Following the massage, clients are reminded to drink plenty of pure water and to stretch to maximize the benefits of massage.

 Who can benefit from massage?

Massage is of great benefit to anyone leading a modern life. It can be a wonderfully pleasant and highly effective part of anyone's health care routine regardless of age or physical condition. Therapeutic massage is particularly helpful to people suffering from:

  • physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion
  • chronic muscular discomfort and reduced mobility

Of course, if you already do feel good, a therapeutic massage just might make you feel like you're walking on air. So don't wait for a reason to treat yourself to a therapeutic massage!
