Nature is endlessly mysterious and complicated.

Every day is an accumulation of new universal mysteries, all infinitely complex in every detail.

And no matter how carefully we might pay attention to the details of life's mysteries in hopes of catching a glimpse of the big picture, the full effect of this complexity will always elude us.

The pursuit of complexity is a test of will.

To
understand the complexity of life is a contradiction in terms, since we understand our world through a process of focus.
To grasp the meaning of life's complexity, we must refuse to understand it, and instead lose ourselves and our thoughts inside it.

My sculpture is an attempt to move beyond the blindness of rational understanding in search of a clearer view of life.

My sculptures are small models--not of nature, but of an enormous imaginary physical space which immerses the viewer in an awareness of complexity.

In creating these imaginary spaces, I hope to share the realization that human life is experienced from within a vast and beautiful mystery which is painted in an extravagance of detail.
